Irina Skylar-Scott earned her undergraduate degree at MIT in 2009 followed by a medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine in 2014. In medical school, she was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Research Fellowship to study quantitative ultrasound as a measure of disease progression in Duchenne muscular dystrophy as a member of the Rutkove Lab. 

She is a recipient of the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) Golseth Young Investigator Award. She then completed her internal medicine internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and she is currently a neurology resident at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She plans to specialize in cognitive neurology. 

Irina enjoys travel, painting neurons, creative writing, board games with friends, and potluck dinners. In her role as member of the Residents & Fellows Committee, Irina aspires to increase participation and engagement by neurology residents in the Massachusetts Neurologic Association and be a contributory asset and liaison on behalf of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's Department of Neurology
