Program Description

This meeting will provide physicians with up-to-date information on healthcare quality improvement and outline changes in the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology's Maintenance of Certification program. 

Target Audience

This program is aimed towards both practicing and academic neurologists, residents, medical students and other physicians interested in healthcare quality improvement.

Program Objectives

As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

1. Review the history of the current healthcare quality improvement process;

2. Discuss the process of developing neurological care quality measures;

3. Examine the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and its impact on neurology practice;

4. Recognize ways of incorporating quality measures into practice;

5. Review the history and rationale of maintenance of certification (MOC) in the United States;

6. Describe the American Board of Medical Specialties’ 2015 MOC standards; and

7. Distinguish the upcoming changes in the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology’s MOC program.
